Every Christian knows that God is love and we hear every week that God loves us. He loves us so much that he gave his son for us. But is God good?
The two should go together but there is part of us that hears the question of God’s goodness and we hesitate. Why might that be...
1) Earthquakes and natural disasters
2) Violent nature
3) Human cruelty
4) Human suffering
5) Biblical stories of judgement
6) Unanswered prayer
These have all been thrown at God and Christians in order to bring into doubt his character. We need to know in our hearts the truth of God’s goodness because without it our faith crumbles.
The short answer lies with Jesus. He said to us that because we have seen Jesus (his character, actions, wisdom) we have seen the Father. In other words, Jesus is perfect theology. The Father is saving the world, not condemning it. God is good!
